NEW AGREEMENT FOR THE SALE OF LOW GRADE COPPER MINERALISED MATERIAL FROM THE LUISHA SOUTH PROJECT TO GOLDEN AFRICAN RESOURCES SARL.

______________________________________________________

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. African Metals Corporation (“AFR” or the “Company”) wishes to provide an update on operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”), where it has executed an agreement with Golden African Resources Sarl (“GAR”) for the sale of low grade copper mineralised material for blending at their Tumbwe plant site to produce copper cathodes.

Details of the deal are as follows:

  • AFR has agreed to initially provide a minimum of 15,000 dry metric tonne (“dmt”) per month of low grade copper oxide mineralised material which will be sourced from an existing stockpile of material at the Company’s Luisha South project in the DRC.
  • AFR has the option to increase monthly minimum delivery amounts up to 20,000 dmt per month, if conditions permit.

The material is to be trucked some 115km to the GAR plant site at Tumbwe  where it will be blended with higher grade copper oxide material and treated to produce copper cathodes.

  • Commencement of operations should begin shortly, subject to GAR making arrangements for the availability of a trucking contractor and excavator.
  • The deliveries of material are expected to continue until the copper oxide grades in the readily available material from the stockpile and existing open pit at Luisha South site are depleted, which is estimated at this time to be able to provide material for a period of between 6 to 8 months.
  • AFR will undertake some additional sampling using 10 metre spaced, continuous 1 metre channel sampling of the open pit footwall along its entire strike length to define the mineralised zone better and allow planning of excavation of possible further material for sale.
  • The price to be paid for material shipped to GAR shall be based on a percentage of the LME Monthly Average Settlement Price (“MASP”) with a provision for increases or decrease depending on the level of the MASP.
  • Given an LME MASP of approximately US$5,675 per tonne for copper, it is estimated that approximately US$450,000 of gross revenue could be generated, if the estimated average monthly tonnages and grades are successfully delivered.
  • A minimum of sixty percent (60%) of net proceeds from the sales of the low grade copper mineralized material shall be paid to Traxys to repay interest and principal owing by AFR on the outstanding loan with Traxys.

Termination of Bluecrest Global Trading Pty Ltd Sales Agreement

The Company also advises that Bluecrest Global Trading Pty Ltd has not been accepting any low grade copper mineralized material from the Luisha South site since early December 2014 under its existing contract with AFR. As consequence, AFR may give notice in the future to terminate the Bluecrest Global Trading Pty Ltd agreement.

About African Metals Corporation.

African Metals Corporation [TSXV “AFR”] is a Canadian listed company focused on the discovery and development of copper and cobalt deposits in the highly mineralized, world renowned Africa Copper Belt in the Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”).

AFR through its 100% owned Canadian subsidiary, Chevalier Resources Inc. (“Chevalier”), holds a 75% interest in the Congolese subsidiary, Luisha Mining Enterprises Sarl (“LME”). TSM sarl (“TSM”), a company controlled by Mr. Simeon Tshisangama, holds the remaining 25% interest in LME. LME holds legal title to the small scale mining licence, PEPM 4881, called the Luisha South Project, in the Katanga Provence of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”).

AFR through Chevalier holds the option to increase its equity interest to 90% in LME. The increased equity interest is issued upon a Qualified Person defining a certain resource tonnage defined to JORC Indicated category for contained copper and cobalt. AFR must also make certain milestone payments in a mixture of cash and shares to TSM as each milestone is reached.

The Luisha South Project is located 75 kilometres northwest of Lubumbashi, the capital of Katanga Province and consists of a single licence of approximately 16.2km². The project includes a small historical open pit mine and an associated low grade copper and cobalt mineralized stockpile. The Luisha South ore body was explored between 1923 and 1928 and an oxide deposit with an estimated pre-production tonnage of approximately 350,000 tonnes at 8.6% Cu was delineated and extracted in the 1940’s (the resource estimate is non-compliant in terms of NI 43-101).

The results of a 2010 and 2011 Reverse Circulation and Diamond core drilling program by AFR produced a NI 43-101 compliant estimated Inferred Resource of 14.7 Million tonnes at 1.1% Cu for 161,700 tonnes of contained copper metal and 0.3% Co for 44,100 tonnes of contained cobalt metal (using a 0.5% Cu cut-off). The above resource includes 370,000 tonnes at 1.0%Cu and 0.5%Co for 3,800 tonnes of copper and 1,700 tonnes of cobalt defined to NI43-101 Inferred Resource category for the low grade stockpile material (using a 0.25% copper cutoff).

The Luisha South Project licence contains approximately a three kilometre strike length of Roan Group sediments and are considered favourable for Cu-Co mineralization. The Roan Group sediments are renowned for hosting major Cu-Co deposits in the DRC.
