Copper Market Update
Copper prices have surged by 17.48% YTD in 2024, driven by fundamental factors
and a tightening demand -supply environment. The persistent deficit in the copper
concentrate market, exacerba ted by ongoing mine disruptions, continues to exert
upward pressure on prices. Additionally, the Federal Reserve's rate -cutting cycle
3
could unleash pent -up demand, further boosting copper's value. Long -term, the
energy transition is expected to become a significant tailwind for copper, sustaining
its meteoric rise. These combined factors have propelled copper prices to new
heights, reflecting a robust and dynamic market landscape. Below is a graph
illustrating the year-to-date performance of copper. 1
