ANTHEM VENTURES CAPITAL CORP. ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN SIZE OF PRIVATE PLACEMENT

VANCOUVER, April 12, 2010 – Anthem Ventures Capital Corp. (TSX-V: AVE) (the “Company” or “Anthem”) announced today that it has increased the size of its previously announced brokered private placement due to investor demand being well in excess of the proposed private placement. Pursuant to the private placement, the Company will now offer and sell up to 12,000,000 common shares of the Company at a price of $0.50 per share for aggregate gross proceeds to the Company of up to $6,000,000. PI Financial Corp. was appointed as an exclusive agent on a commercially reasonable efforts basis with respect to the private placement.

The private placement is to close concurrent with the Company’s previously announced proposed acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding shares of West Kirkland Mining Inc. (the “Transaction”), a private company focused on North American gold exploration west of Kirkland Lake, Ontario and in Nevada. Completion of the Transaction and private placement is subject to approval by the TSX Venture Exchange and, if accepted, the Transaction is intended to be the Company’s “qualifying transaction”.

The net proceeds from the private placement will be used to execute the Company’s exploration objectives in Ontario and Nevada and for general working capital upon completion of the Transaction.
